Airports, councils, and innovators honoured at the 2025 Parking Industry Awards

October 22, 2025
Australia’s parking and mobility leaders came together in Sydney last week for the 2025 Parking Industry Awards, celebrating the people and projects driving innovation nationwide.
Winners on the night included:
- Orikan for Outstanding Customer Service
- Northern Beaches Council for Community Impact and Industry Excellence
- Duncan Solutions for Outstanding Sustainable Initiative
- Orikan for Outstanding Marketing and Communications
- UbiPark and Melbourne Airport for Excellence in Technology and Innovation – Off Street
- Orikan for Excellence in Technology and Innovation – On Street
- Steve Whitford – Ace Parking for Emerging Leader of the Year
- City of Perth for Parking Organisation of the Year

Among the winners, a standout was the partnership between Melbourne Airport and UbiPark. Their winning project, the Bus Payment Solution (BPS), was developed to automate how commercial bus operators access and pay for use of the airport’s frontage. The new system integrates licence plate recognition technology with a secure online portal, replacing manual invoicing with real-time billing and an online stored-value wallet. Since its adoption, the initiative has improved accuracy and compliance and reduced administrative overheads.

“This project shows how technology can improve efficiency while strengthening relationships between airports and their partners,” said Mosstyn Howell, CEO of UbiPark. “It’s a model that can be easily replicated across other airports.”
Now in its fifth year, the Parking Industry Awards continue to highlight the people and projects driving progress across Australia’s parking and mobility sector.
