Melbourne Airport has gone live with the UbiPark bus management solution. Approximately 280 bus companies currently pick up and drop off at the various terminals at Melbourne Airport. The Airport has congestion charges to ensure buses are not needlessly “sitting” in spaces at the terminal frontage for extended periods of time.
UbiPark has set up a portal where the bus companies register and can maintain their accounts. The companies set up an e-wallet for payment that is linked to auto top up when the balance goes low on the wallet.
The solution is integrated to Q-Free LPR. The LPR system tracks buses as they move between the terminals and sends the vehicle movement data to UbiPark to enable billing in the platform.
The platform was rolled out with 99% of users reporting a positive experience in accessing and navigating the portal.
